I am a teacher. I probably always have been, although it is only in the last ten years or so that I was able to introduce myself as a teacher at dinner parties. Before retiring to public education I worked in small business, large business, the corporate world and I have been unemployed a time or two. I have sold things door to door, on the phone, over the kitchen table. I have marketed products and services through every imaginable media. I have analyzed, engineered, written reports, stories and columns. I have invented and patented things, solved problems of all manner and sort. I have run things and taken orders. I have been in factories, stores, on roof tops and under houses. I have made good money, not much money, been broke, gotten fired, moved and built a life again from the ground up, actually a couple of times. Through it all I have been a teacher, it is how I see myself; it is what I have to give to the world.
I did not marry until I was fifty some years old. I love my wife more then I love my own life. So what does a fifty something old guy have to teach me about love? I come to what I know by observing couples, friends and relationships for three decades. Remember I was single, looking and contemplating the successes and failures of love I saw around me for thirty years. It is impossible to learn less, we always know more today then we did yesterday. When you enrich observation by reading many of the great works on the subject of love with the objective of discovering what love is; you can come to know a fair bit in thirty years. Then after wandering in this mysterious forest you discover your beloved and the grace of giving all that has been learned, utility. What emerges in a natural teacher is the idea that he has something valuable to teach.
I have a Bachelors Degree in Political Science from the University of Puget Sound and a Masters Degree in Education from the University of California, Hayward with specialized training in teaching and developing online educational experiences. So LoveAha.com represents the culmination of all the things I have learned about the most important thing I could think to teach, love and years of specialized training and skill development. Like any learning experience it is a work in progress that grows and adapts in relationship to the needs of the students. It will be better next year than it is this year and still better the following year because of you.
I believe learning more about love is the most important lesson there is in life. It will make us all better human beings, happier, stronger and more courageous. You deserve to find love and come to understand it. I passionately want the honor of being helpful in your journey. I teach. It is the special gift I love to give to the world.
